Suzanne Smant

Hello Neighbors!

 

My name is Suzanne Smant and I live on N. Turning Leaf Way. I moved into Stillwater Springs this past March. Prior to that I lived in Nunica in a beautiful old farmhouse on 12 acres with my husband Jer, who passed away of brain cancer in 2019. We have 4 sons and 3 granddaughters. The decision to move from my home of 32 years was a difficult one, but also the best decision, as I'm now able to share life with so many awesome people and in such beautiful surroundings!

 

I have a varied background as far as employment. I'll highlight (3) of my favorite positions; 15 years as Administrative Secretary at a 60-bed adult foster care facility for those with physical, mental or emotional disabilities. 8 years as a school bus driver for Spring Lake schools, and my current position since 2017, as an administrator of a nationwide audiology contract for veterans. All of them were and continue to be incredibly fulfilling.

 

I'd like to serve on the board in the capacity of social activities.  I'm an outgoing, energetic, caring person who loves to laugh, be with people of all ages and who wants to make a difference! I believe there are many activities we could plan that would be meaningful, affordable and could also include our family members. I'd love to see the social committee members embrace our community and step in to take care of those who may be experiencing health issues, living alone during the winter months, or needing someone to stop by or pick up the phone and say hello. Socializing facilitates a sense of belonging and purpose which everyone needs.

 

It's also important to me that the SWS board members lead the community with 100% transparency regarding spending. In recent years we've all faced a tremendous increase in cost of living and need to explore opportunities to be fiscally responsible, keep our community vibrant and strong, and preserve HOA fees to be affordable for all.
